Coffee is one of the world’s shared pastime. Whether you’re in Saudi Arabia or France, you’ll see people relaxing over a cup of coffee. Most of the drinkers don’t know of the fundamental role women play in producing that coffee. From the soil to the cup, without women are central figures in getting the loved beverage out.

Believe it or not, when you drink a good cup of coffee, it’s usually a women who ensured it’d reach that quality. Vie Reyes, the CEO and head of the Philippine Coffee Alliance has stated that women are usually the ones who ensure quality control during the production process. They are just more detailed, patient, tedious and nurturing by nature.

Vie Reyes is currently pushing to see that the Filipino government assures better policies for women. These policies will include domestic care and gender-specific financing. These will also help a lot of women who are returning from work after maternity leave. She feels that too often the women working in the coffee industry are being overlooked and not valued for their hard work.

With these changes in the policy, the country can assure a higher quality in the coffee that they are drinking. No one works harder than a happy worker, a worker who feels like they are being treated equally.

Philippines Coffee Alliance is one of the most popular coffee brands in the Philippines. You’ll see them stocked in every super market across the country. The company works with over 5,000 coffee farmers across the country. Altogether those are 25% of the Philippines’ coffee farmers. They also export their coffee to a number of countries across the world.
